Welcome to my art - I am a painter and printmaker working primarily with botanical subjects. I graduated from Parsons School of Design with a certificate of study in Art and Graphic Design, and New York University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts. After receiving a Max Beckman scholarship, I continued my studies at the Brooklyn Museum Art School.
My work has been exhibited nation-wide as well as abroad in Europe. You’ll find my paintings and prints in many private homes as well as in public collections, such as the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, the National Museum of Women in the Arts, Washington DC, the Cloisters of the Met Museum, the Brooklyn Museum, NY, the State Museum in Albany, NY, the Brooklyn Botanic Garden Florilegium Society and the Hunt Institute for Botanical Documentation in Pittsburgh , amongst others. I have exhibited at the New York Botanical Garden in the Bronx, NY, in the group show “Losing Paradise? “, curated and organized by the American Society of Botanical Artists , a show featuring paintings of plants that are endangered in their natural habitats. Other recent venues include the “Focus on Nature XI” exhibit at the State Museum in Albany, N.Y., where I was given the Jurors Award; also, the “Etching & Monotype Exhibition” at the National Arts Club, NY, a show curated by the New York Society of Etchers that also traveled to Haifa, Israel, and this coming Fall, I will exhibit with the Brooklyn Botanic Garden Florilegium Society “Portraits of a Garden” at the Shirley Sherwood Gallery at Kew, England.

In the spring of 2009, my work was displayed in a solo show at the Brooklyn Botanic Garden; I called it “My Favorite Garden”, since all the paintings and etchings were based on the living plant specimen in the BBG.

My work is featured in these recent publications:

“Drawing from Life”- Maud H.Purdy and 90 Years of Women Artists at Brooklyn Botanic Garden
